# How does BuyPerUnit work?

BuyPerUnit pulls current prices daily from Amazon, Best Buy, and Newegg. For storage devices, BuyPerUnit divides the retail price by capacity in gigabytes to get $/GB. For printer ink, BuyPerUnit divides by manufacturer-rated page yield to get $/page. Products are then ranked cheapest-per-unit first.
